A study of materiality, process, and abstraction

A study of materiality, process, and abstraction

Evan was honored to be selected as one of fourteen emerging artists to showcase his work in the first edition of the Zero Zero Project. The objective was to provide a video-based response to German Artist Robert Knoke centered around three key propositions. 1. The outcomes, 2. The act of creation, 3. Environments & influences. Each of these notions have been examined in differing ways throughout the publication and provides a unique way to articulate the depth and texture of artist Robert Knoke’s world.

Taking cues solely from a visual standpoint, Oremland wove together a motion-graphics interpretation of Knoke's raw approach – morphing in-and-out of abstract and identifiable imagery – undulating to a disorienting electro-dancehall sound design by pal and collaborator Blazing Lazer.

Limited to 2,000 units, each book contains Music by Spencer Product, 14 films by emerging interactive artists (including Evan) and a limited edition Robert Knoke T-shirt. The first edition of the Zero Zero Project was exhibited at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City, briefly appearing at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) also in New York City, and later travelling to the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) in Seoul, Korea. Zero Zero also recieved press from publications such as the New York Times, Style.com, Details, AnOther, Dazed Digital, SlamXHype, WireImages, and GettyImages amongst others.
