Redesigning and relaunching the iconic Italian automaker's website for an American audience

Americans didn’t really know much about FIAT — but the rest of the world certainly did. So when they remerged in the US after a long hiatus, Italy's most beloved automaker deserved a proper reintroduction. It was necessary to re-familiarize the American audience with FIAT's minimalist Italian roots. A design philosophy that manages to pack more personality per square inch than anything else on the road – or in this case – browser.

FIATUSA.com set out to be less 'car website' and more 'multimedia lookbook'. A showcase for the brand's unique lifestyle: unusual commercials, pop-culture partnerships, and chic photoshoots. From flying off Amalfi Coast cliffs and swimming underwater in the Atlantic Ocean, to partying with celebrities on giant yachts in Miami, eluding the clutches of Godzilla, and even taking erectile dysfunction pills, FIAT's US presence certainly upheld its reputation for being flaymboant.

Prior to taking the wheel of creative responsibilities, fiatusa.com was ranked last by JD Power MWES. The new site design and content fostered an immediate Top-Ten Ranking and Most-Improved Automotive Website Award while paving the way for future launches of the FIAT 500 Abarth, FIAT 500e, FIAT 500L, FIAT 500x and ultimately the FIAT 124 Spider.
